CLEAN YOUR JEWELRY REGULARLY

To keep your diamond jewelry looking brand new, soak it in a gentle degreasing solution, such as water with a few drops of mild dish soap. After you remove the diamond from the cleaning solution, use a soft, brand new toothbrush to remove any remaining dirt. It's easiest to reserve a toothbrush exclusively for cleaning your jewelry. Be careful diamonds shouldn’t be vigorously scrubbed. Gentle scrub your jewelry to avoid any potential damage. Then, just rinse your diamond jewelry with water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. If you’re working over a sink, make sure to close the drain. Do this once or twice a week.

Do NOT use a toothbrush on jewelry that is too fragile, such as estate jewelry.

AVOID HARMFUL SOLUTIONS

Everyday substances like hairspray, lotion, body spray or other cosmetics can contain chemicals will permanently damage the surface of your pearls and other delicate or porous gems (like turquoise). Chlorine bleach or abrasives (such as household cleansers or toothpaste) should never be used when cleaning diamond jewelry.

USE ULTRASONIC CLEANERS WITH CAUTION

Ultrasonic cleaners are used to remove heavy dirt and grime, but could cause damage depending on the stone, treatment or setting. It’s best to have your jeweler clean your jewelry using these machines to avoid any damage.

Before placing your diamond in an ultrasonic cleaner, it’s best to refer to the diamond’s grading report, which clearly discloses whether the diamond has been treated. You should also consult a professional jeweler who can determine if your jewelry needs repair, such as checking for loose stones and tightening them, before it is cleaned.

The key to a diamond’s sparkle lies in its facets – which work like a series of many tiny mirrors reflecting light in and out of the stone. Regularly cleaning the facets will keep your diamond sparkling and your diamond jewelry in gleaming condition, ready to shine for your next special occasion.

BE CAREFUL WITH LIGHT AND HEAT

Just as the sun’s harmful rays can damage our skin, light and heat cause discoloration and dullness. Over time, and in excess, they can also fade or damage some gemstone. Be cautious with vintage jewelry.

SAFELY STORE YOUR JEWELRY

It is key to store your jewelry correctly. One of the best ways to store your jewelry is in its original boxing. It is also ideal to keep it in a box with velvet. Jewelry boxes that feature individually padded slots for rings and posts for hanging necklaces and bracelets are also ideal. When traveling, protect your jewelry pieces from scratches or other impact damage by padding it in a separate box or case.

WATCHES

Before cleaning your watch, always ensure that the winder is screwed down properly against the case to guarantee waterproofness. You can help preserve your watch by cleaning it occasionally with a microfibre cloth. You can also wash the case and bracelet from time to time using soapy water and a soft brush. After wearing your watch in the sea, it is important to rinse it with fresh water to remove any salt and sand deposits.
